The fierce battle between the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and the Viet Cong in 1968

Table of Contents

ARVN paratroopers repelled the Viet Cong attack in Saigon in 1968. ARVN soldiers took cover along the walls of the French National Cemetery, moving through the graveyard alongside American officers firing M-16 rifles. Fallen soldiers were carried on stretchers, buildings burned, and Viet Cong fighters were captured as prisoners. Footage shows Viet Cong prisoners being tied up, searched, fed, and a wounded Viet Cong emerging from a drainage system manhole.

Many battle scenes were recorded: damaged and burning buildings, ARVN soldiers taking cover at fiercely burning Esso and Shell gas stations, Viet Cong bodies scattered on the streets, and ARVN troops firing .50 caliber machine guns from trucks. Close-up footage shows ARVN soldiers searching Viet Cong bodies, seizing spent rocket casings, and discovering a photo of a young girl along with propaganda leaflets on a Viet Cong corpse.
